Diesel Rally 3
Saturday afternoon saw the ride out to Bury Hill, this being the local bikers venue, the sun shone like never before this year, so the ice cream stall did good business that day.
The bike in the foreground is Dereks off roader that completed the lands end trial earlier this year. The bike is a road going CB250RS and retains the 5 speed gearbox due to the builders skill with a TIG welder. The engine runs a 25mm toothed belt drive to a crossover jackshaft that in turn has the original crank gear drive cog on the other end and meshed with the original gearbox drive - lots of skill with the welding torch needed.
Partners in crime, this is Terrys 325cc Greaves Enfield, the green bike behind is mine.

Below are the rest of the photo's that I took on the ride out.

The rest of Saturday was very hot and sunny, we returned to the Bat & Ball and spent the rest of the day discussing all things diesel bike related.

Soon enough the pub beckoned for supper (Ham & Eggs loverly) followed by copious quantities of beer and more talk of convoying to the Hamm diesel bike rally in September.

All too soon it was time to retire, and Sunday morning saw most departing for home, mine was the relatively short journey compared to the Belgian and German boys who were booked on the midday ferry.

Sluggy and I loaded up and returned through the hot sunshine, he only complained once when I pushed him a but too hard up the local hill when only 2 miles from home. True to form it was just outside the pub so a swift shandy later we were on our way home.

In all we covered 200 miles including the ride out, and spent £6.25 in fuel (144mpg). Perfect!
